MLQG Reminder

Attention Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild members...don't forget to bring 6-8 2 1/2" (width of fabric) strips to Monday night's guild meeting! The strips can be all different or there can be some duplicates, but they should all reflect your quilting style. I have no idea what we are going to do with them, but I am sure that our new president has something fun up her sleeve! See you all Monday night!

Sew-La-Tea Photos

Just a few photos from the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild's Sew-La-Tea held last Saturday. There were many lovely quilts displayed and lots of friendly conversation with other quilters.

The closeups at the top of the post are of quilts made by the "founding mothers" of our guild -- Mary Jane's is the red applique and Madalene's is the Celtic knotwork.

Friendship Star Quilt

I won these friendship star blocks at our guild's quilting retreat 2 yrs ago and have just finished putting them into this quilt. It turned out so lovely, I've decided to give it to a friend who has had a very bad year. I hope it cheers her up.

Juried Into a National Show!!

This week in the Philadelphia area is the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza. I was delighted to have two of my quilts juried into the the show! It's the first time I've entered a national show. The Majestic Mountains quilt is a miniature block based on Bonnie Hunter's technique. It was made for a challenge for an online quilt guild called Our Quilting Beehive. Roses Converging is a Ricky Tims convergence quilt and uses a hand dyed chartreuse fabric to highlight the leaf colors in the Benartex Flower Shop roses. There are additional roses appliqued on top and quilted with gold thread.
