This quilt is from the same book as Apple Harvest #3 and was meant to be a pillow cover. I changed it into a wall hanging. It is done with the batting exposed behind the top fabrics for the apple and leaves. All those edges were pinked and quilted down to the backing with a running stitch for the quilting.
My Apple Pie Mini Quilt comes from the book Two-Hour Mini Quilt Projects by McKenzie Kate. The sunflowers and pie crust are added on to the quilt base for more dimension. Buttons add more embellishment.
I have made three of these apple wall hangings, two for friends who decorate their kitchens with apples and one for myself. The pattern was from a very old Debbie Mumm book. It's a good way to use scraps.
September means displaying my small apple quilts. This one is done crazy quilt style with hand embroidery stitching on the seams. I liked the results so much that I made two pumpkin wall hangings in the same style.
Who are we? Just a group of stitching friends in the north-central Pennsylvania mountains. We love to quilt, sew, knit, embroider, and just about anything else that involves a needle and thread. Please feel free to comment on our posts. We'd love to know who visits our blog.
