Astronomical Quilts!

NASA Astronaut Karen Nyberg was hand stitching star quilt blocks on a recent space shuttle mission.  She invited quilters to submit a star block of any pattern and any color.  They are going to the Houston International Quilt Festival and will be made into some star quilts.  Here's my star for the project.

Sofia Designs a Dress

Granddaughters #1 and #3 came to Wellsboro for Hamilton-Gibson's Drama Camp during the first week of July.  Their visit always includes some sewing projects, of course.  Sofia selected this limey T-shirt at Joann's and the dotted seersucker fabric for the skirt of this simple dress.  A few yo-yos decorate the top and the whole thing took about 90 minutes!  I wish her hair was loose so you could see its spun red-gold curls.  What a treat to have them to ourselves for a week!
