Back before I got hooked on quilting, I enjoyed doing cross-stitch. Each year I made a different Easter egg featured in various cross-stitch magazines. Here are a few of my favorites. Besides cross-stitch there is pulled work embroidery, hardanger and beadwork on the eggs.
After 4 or 5 hours crawling around on my living room floor, I finally got this vintage top from the 1930's or 1940's, layered and ready to hand quilt. I bought it at a local shop where vendors sell vintage and hand crafted items. The top was hand pieced and was found with two other quilt tops when an old house was cleaned out after the owner died. No one knows who made the top but it is in excellent shape and probably never saw the light of day once it was finished and put away. I am not a hand quilter but couldn't bring myself to machine quilt something this old though I was really tempted! It will take a while to get it done if my sore fingers are any indication.
Who are we? Just a group of stitching friends in the north-central Pennsylvania mountains. We love to quilt, sew, knit, embroider, and just about anything else that involves a needle and thread. Please feel free to comment on our posts. We'd love to know who visits our blog.
